We are pleased to present this first edition of the Handbook for Principal Investigators to the Wellesley College community. We hope that all faculty members engaged in research will find it a useful guide to the sometimes complicated rules related to applying for and using an external sponsor's funds in support of an individual's project. We view this as a document subject to regular revision, and we welcome all comments and suggestions for changes.
