POL 120 - Civil Rights Law

An introduction to legal reasoning and argument through the analysis of civil rights cases. We will use the Socratic Method to probe the complexities of cases involving race, gender, class, sexual orientation and disability in such fields as education, employment, marriage and family life, housing and welfare. Emphasis on basic legal skills such as case analysis, issue-spotting, reasoning from precedent, and argumentation.
