Most Frequently Asked Student Questions

Q. Can I move my phone to another location within my room?

A. Yes. You may move your phone at anytime. All the jacks in the room are active with the same number which has been assigned to your room.

Q. How do I report problems?

A. For telephone problems call Student Telephone Services at x7201.

Q. Does a phone ring when another phone in the same room is in use?

A. No. All student telephones have the call-waiting feature. If a second call is received, a call waiting tone will be heard by the person on the phone. If not answered, the caller will continue to hear ringing.

Q. If someone is on another phone in my room, can I make a call?

A. No. The student campus phone service is like an extension in your home. Only one person can be on the phone at a time.

Q. My phone isn't ringing in my room. Why?

A. The ringer on your phone may be turned off or you may not have your phone plugged into the correct portion of the communication jack. The BLUE portion of the faceplate is the voice connection and is for the phone, and the WHITE portion is the data connection and is for the computer. If you have a cordless phone, make sure it is fully charged. If the phone still does not work, call Student Telephone Services at x7201.
