Using
Your Telephone Features
General
Single line sets give users the ability to access features by using
the switchhook and dialing access codes for the feature desired. Single
line sets can only receive or make one call at a time, unless you are
using the call waiting feature. Message waiting indication is a stuttered
dial tone notifying you of a message in voicemail. All of the following
features are available to student single line sets:
Transfer
To transfer a call to another set: press switchhook, hear special dialtone,
dial ext. , announce caller, hang up.
Call
Forward
To send all calls to another extension: lift handset, dial *2, hear
dialtone, dial ext. where calls will be sent, hang up. To cancel: lift
handset, dial #1, hear dialtone, hang up.
Permanent
Hold
To place a call on hold: press switchhook, hear special dialtone, dial
*4, hang up. To retrieve call on hold: lift handset.
Automatic
Call-back
To be automatically notified when a busy set is free: at busy tone,
press switchhook, hear special dialtone, dial *5, hang up. When busy
set is free, system will ring your set with short bursts of ringing.
To respond: lift handset, system will dial number.
Last
Number Redial
To redial the last number dialed: lift handset, dial #8, call is automatically
redialed.
Call
Waiting
To respond: hear two bursts of tone, depress switchhook, your current
call is on hold, you are connected to the call waiting call. To return
to the original call, depress the switchhook or simply hang-up and the
second call will ring through.
- To
de-activate call waiting:
Lift handset, dial *65, and hang-up.
- To
re-activate call waiting:
Lift handset, dial *64, and hang-up.
Malicious
Call Trace
If you
receive a harassing or obscene call, this feature allows you to activate
a call trace which results in a printed report of the calling party
ONLY IF the caller is within the campus system.
To
Activate: Depress switchhook...hear dial tone...the call is on hold...dial
##...the call is on hold and a printed report is being generated. Note
the time of the call and notify the telephone help line x4357 providing
your name, reason for calling and time of the call. Also report the
call to Campus Police.
