Summer Internships at the Wellesley College Botanic Gardens
Two internships are available for Wellesley students to work in the Botanic Gardens in Summer 2008. The internships will mainly be work in the Hunnewell Arboretum and Alexandra Botanic Garden (pulling invasive weeds, mulching, watering, mowing, etc.) and side projects such as planning educational exhibits and field trips.
The work:
If you like to work outside in a beautiful place even on hot sweaty days in the company of insects and other critters, this job is for you! You will learn how to identify invasive plants and how to care for the desirable plants in the gardens, working primarily with Tricia Diggins, WCBG Horticulturist.
The details:
The internships will run for 10 to 12 weeks, with some flexibility as to dates. Ideally students would start in late May and work into August, with time off possible in between. The pay rate is $400/week. Housing is not included, but is available on campus. A regular weekly schedule of Monday – Friday 7:30 to 4:30 is required, with an hour break for lunch.
How to apply:
Send an email to Tricia Diggins through First Class or pdiggins@wellesley.edu indicating your interest, by March 14. We will conduct brief interviews and notify successful applicants shortly thereafter.
