These two films, one made over two decades ago (The Conversation)
and one fairly recent (The Net) , both dramatize the privacy issues
that technology inevitably creates in our lives. Protagonists Harry
Caul (Gene Hackman, looking much younger here, of course) and Angela
Bennett (Sandra Bullock) , both technologically astute in their own
ways, become post-modern victims of surveillance and computers.
(Gene Hackman, in
a still from The Conversation)
