College Fairs

High school students, their families, and guidance counselors all find college fairs an attractive and convenient way to connect with many post-secondary options in one location. By representing Wellesley in your community, you are raising the College’s visibility and bringing it to the attention of students and teachers who might not otherwise consider Wellesley. You also bring a personal touch to the application process and can assist interested students with joining our contact list or connecting with a member of our admission team.

 

The Admission Office receives thousands of requests for college fairs annually. As a result, we are highly selective about which college fairs we would like alumnae or our own staff members to attend. The invitations sent to you are for fairs the Admission Office has identified as critical to our outreach efforts.

 

Please remember to:

• Arrive on time, remain at your table throughout the fair, and never be the first college to leave the fair.
• Fill out a fair evaluation for the organizers if requested to do so.
• Complete Wellesley's fair evaluation and return inquiry cards as soon as possible.

 

You will notice that Wellesley (like other highly selective institutions) does not distribute much in the way of admission brochures at college fairs. In fact, the only piece we now offer at fairs is the "Portable Wellesley" brochure. Instead, we ask that students fill out an “inquiry card” when they visit the Wellesley table. The College’s new admission communication plan has been carefully designed to provide relevant information to high school students at key points during the year. The plan allows Wellesley to eliminate the mailing of duplicate materials, reduce environmental and financial waste, and provide select information via mail and email when it is most applicable and least likely to be disregarded. Filling out the inquiry card is the only way to ensure that the student receives these critical updates from Wellesley.
