Varsity Athletics
Wellesley is a member of the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC), the
National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), and the New England Women's
and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC). Students can qualify to compete
in Division III Regional and National Championships. Consistently, Wellesley
students rise to the top of each of these conferences.
Prospective students are welcome to
email coaches or to complete an online recruitment questionnaire
from an individual sport. In order to complete an online

that interests you.

Facilities
Students are supported by state-of-the-art athletic facilities,
which include a basketball and volleyball arena; five indoor tennis courts; a
four-lane, 200-meter track; a swimming pool; dance/yoga studios; six
squash courts; a sports medicine facility; and weight training and cardiovascular
rooms. Wellesley is home to a new multi-million-dollar fields complex, competed
in the fall of 2002. The complex includes a multipurpose Exeter field, which
serves as the home to the lacrosse and field hockey teams. The complex also includes
the addition of a regulation softball diamond, soccer field, 400-meter track,
and a recreational/practice field.
Intramural
and Sports Clubs
For students
interested in some friendly sports rivalry between residence halls
or campus organizations, Wellesley's intramural program
offers a wide variety of sports for students of all abilities. Residence
halls and classes field intramural teams in crew, sailing, soccer,
squash, table tennis, tennis, ultimate frisbee, and volleyball. Some
sports clubs compete with teams off campus in judo, karate, rugby,
skiing, softball, ultimate Frisbee, and water polo. The equestrian
club sport has become increasingly popular. You may also join Outing
Club expeditions to the White Mountains and Cape Cod or canoeing,
cycling, hiking, and skiing excursions.
Recreation,
Instruction, and Wellness
Wellesley offers instruction in more than 30 activities, including golf on
the College's own nine-hole course,
sailing, and scuba diving. You
may choose from nine types of dance classes, four types of racquet sports,
aqua-robics, strength training, cardio kickboxing, aerobics, martial arts,
self defense, and yoga. |
