WHAT BROUGHT YOU TO THE DAVIS DEGREE PROGRAM?
In search of new opportunities and a new level of academic challenge, I quit my job of eight years as a hair designer in a fabulous salon in Denver, sold my home, car, and all of my possessions, and flew out to Wellesley with two suitcases (and a lot of excitement).

WHAT IS THE DAVIS SCHOLAR COMMUNITY LIKE?
The Davis Scholar Community is as diverse as the rest of the college. Each and every woman here has a story worth hearing. It usually involves experiencing struggle and courage, as well as finding incredible strength. These are inspiring, individual women. To know them is a gift.

WHAT HAVE YOU BEEN INVOLVED WITH ON CAMPUS?
I served as president of the Davis Scholar Class, ran meditations on campus, was a member of Multi-Faith Council, and worked for CWS as a Peer Resource Advisor. All of these were great experiences that deepened my Wellesley learning. Also, I was an avid "applier" for anything that included the word "abroad." By the end of my Wellesley experience, I will have lived, worked, and/or studied in Japan, India, and South Africa, and Argentina.

WHAT DO YOU LIKE BEST ABOUT WELLESLEY? For me, other Davis Scholars, along with the Office of Religious and Spiritual Life, provided the most support for me. The friendships I built with other Davis Scholars are deeper and richer than many other relationships in my life. We struggled, laughed, and celebrated together. They were wonderful. The Office of Religious and Spiritual Life brought another dimension to Wellesley for me. Through them, I found meditations to balance the active mind, a listening ear for particular stresses, and a guide to develop the kind of knowledge that is intuitive, unique, and needs particular attention. This support, along with an amazing faculty and a tranquil campus, helped me to succeed.

The Davis Program helped me to find my academic voice and develop trust in my knowledge (both academic and intuitive thanks to special faculty members). Wellesley, through the Davis Scholar Program, has also given me truly incredible opportunities--like traveling to four countries in two years.

WHAT ARE YOU MAJORING IN AND HOW HAVE YOU FOUND THE ACADEMICS AT WELLESLEY?
My major is in Peace and Justice Studies with a focus in religious conflict. The academics at Wellesley were incredibly intense and often amplified by an environment of overachievers and perfectionists. I have heard countless Davis Scholars state, “If I can do this, I can do anything!” The confidence and sense of accomplishment that you take from this program and this school are invaluable.

WHAT DO YOU PLAN TO DO AFTER GRADUATION?
Become truly bilingual and work for human rights in the Americas, especially regarding indigenous issues and food security.
