Honestly, I never intended on choosing an all-women’s college…. But something about the campus really spoke to me, and I found myself hooked.
Why did you choose Wellesley?
Honestly, I never intended on choosing all women's college. I visited Wellesley on a whim, to check it out and just get a feel for the atmosphere. But something about the campus really spoke to me, and I found myself hooked. It didn't take much; after a few seconds of walking around, I knew this place would be a good fit for me. There is this wonderful sense of drive, focus, and beauty on campus that is really inspiring.
Did you come to Wellesley with a particular passion?
I love to sing. I am heavily involved with the Wellesley College Choir, and I love it. We have been having such a great year so far, and I'm filled with so much happiness and pride when I think about all the progress choir has made. We just had our fall concert and it went so well! The music was so beautiful; I had such a blast singing. My friends told me that I looked really happy on stage, and that's because I was. It felt amazing to finally share all the great pieces we've been working on.
Can you recall a favorite Wellesley memory so far?
One of my favorite memories from Wellesley was definitely Valentine’s Day first year. I came back to my room on a crazy sugar high and needed to do something. I burst into the room and tell my roommate that we should build a snowman. She is immediately on board and I text our friends to join us. Soon, there are three of us outside in the Tower courtyard making giant snowballs. The snowballs we made were massive! We were so out of breath but it was too much fun. Our intended snowman turned into a glorious caterpillar whom we named Peter. He turned out ridiculously well and we were so proud. It was a fantastic night.
What other fun events have you gone to on campus?
Wellesley has so much to offer! But one of the many fun events I attended would have to be the Chemistry Cookie party. My fellow chem classmate and I were so excited! We had a countdown leading up to the hour when we could finally immerse ourselves in cookie heaven. It was such a blast, and so very delicious. But never fear! All the departments have an affair of this nature at some point during the year, so you don't need to be in a chem class to partake. : )
Do you have a favorite spot on campus?
You can find many spots on campus that could become your favorite. My favorite spot is wherever my friends and I choose to eat dinner. It is a relaxing study break, and there is much laughter. It can get pretty hectic during the year, so it’s always nice when you take it slow and enjoy a long dinner with all your friends.
And what about off campus?
I love heading into Boston and Cambridge. There is so much to do! My friends and I love the Museum of Fine Arts, and walking through Boston Common, and I myself love shopping and wandering around Newbury Street. Boston just has so much to offer! I love that city!
What advice would you give to a prospective student?
I feel this advice is pertinent no matter where you are: Relax, it will all work out in the end. If you are giving it your best effort, and honestly care about you endeavor, it is going to be all right. I know it’s hard to remember late at night when you are scrambling to finish essays, readings, problem-sets, and more, but you will make it through.
