JEANINE NAVARRETE ‘10
Hometown: Miami, FL
Major: American Studies
"Through a Center for Work and Service stipend, I was able to pursue an unpaid summer internship at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum. It was an incredible experience that allowed me an insider’s perspective into museum work. It really cemented my desire to be an American Studies major and eventually translate that into curatorial work."

FAVORITE COURSE: I really enjoyed Urban Politics (POLI 212) because the professor made even the most mundane aspects of urban policy engaging and interesting. I grew up in Miami and it was really fascinating to learn about how politics affects every aspect of city life from council elections to garbage pick up.

YOUR PERSPECTIVES ON ACADEMICS: I love my major because it’s interdisciplinary and allows me to take classes in almost every department. I like being able to take a wide range of courses in everything from art history to sociology.

EXPERIENTIAL LEARNING - INTERNSHIP: Through a Center for Work and Service stipend, I was able to pursue an unpaid summer internship at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum. It was an incredible experience that allowed me an insider’s perspective into museum work. It really cemented my desire to be an American Studies major and eventually translate that into curatorial work.

BEST THING ABOUT WELLESLEY (OR A WOMEN'S COLLEGE):
I like the sense of empowerment that I think you can only find at a school like Wellesley. I truly feel like there is no limit to the opportunities available to students. Also, my friends are amazing – they aren’t kidding about the sisterhood thing!

DREAM JOB: I think being the tour manager for Led Zeppelin would be my dream job. I’m good at making travel arrangements and I wouldn’t get sick of hearing "Stairway to Heaven" every other night. It’s a shame I was born too late for the first time around… I suppose I can always hope for a reunion tour.

FUN FACT: I collect Hello Kitty paraphernalia. My favorite item in my collection is a Hello Kitty ski jacket. It’s bright pink and easily spotted on campus in the winter.
