COURSE: I
am having right now my favorite course, Weapons,
Strategy and War (POL3 379), a 300-level course in our Political
Science Department with Professor Stacie Goddard. It is such an
interesting
class, focusing on the evolution of weaponry and strategical warfare, military
science, and the creation of strategy as a science and as an art. For someone
like me who wants to go to graduate school in international relations,
this class is extremely useful. It is also really interesting,
and I am learning a
lot. Professor Goddard is absolutely amazing – a fabulous
strategist and political scientist.
YOUR PERSPECTIVES ON ACADEMICS: Economics
and German Studies, together with my concentrations in Political
Science
and History, really give me a great introduction into
what my career should look
like. In Economics, I love learning about different ways to explain the interactions
between individuals and states, be it international trade, corporate
finance, economic growth, or feminist economics. German Studies
is designed to help me
learn more about the politics, history, cultural heritage, and societies
of the German-speaking lands. Combining my majors is very useful
when designing
certain
foreign economic and strategic policy, something that I can see myself doing
in five years.
Wellesley allows you to develop amazing relationship with your professors,
letting you learn more about their areas of specialization. They
are also amazing
advisors and resources, helping you to decide what to do with your academics,
your career, and your life. They are excellent listeners and good to talk
about the most pertinent and current issues in the world. Many times I went
to my professors' office
hours
and ended up talking about the news, philosophy, interesting
books, movies, and classes.
The whole school is practically designed to make you succeed.
EXPERIENTIAL
LEARNING - STUDY ABROAD/INTERNSHIPS: I
went to the University of Vienna for a study abroad program for
a year. That really helped my language; it
was a great opportunity
to learn and get immersed
in
a new culture and society. I also received two stipend awards from CWS,
the SOS, which I used for volunteering with an NGO fighting against
domestic
violence
and sex trafficking of women. The other stipend was Susan Knafel and I
used it
for my interning with Austrian Institute for International Affairs. I also
did senior thesis research for my German Studies Department.
BEST THING ABOUT WELLESLEY (OR WOMEN'S COLLEGE):I
love being appreciated and respected for being a woman. I like
knowing: that I am not afraid to stand up and be outspoken about
my beliefs and
opinions; that if I set my mind to learning something
I can do it; and that Wellesley women like to work hard because they
just want the best for
themselves and for others around them. I appreciate being a woman:
something that was enhanced by being in
a women's college, especially Wellesley!
DREAM JOB: I want to work either in the government
sector or with an international organization, planning the economic
policy and strategic analysis both
locally [for my
own country, Montenegro] as well as on a more global scale. Among the
organizations I
would like to work for are: WTO, World Bank, Interpol, UNDP, and the
Institute for Security and
Strategic Studies.
FUN
FACT: I
love watching and analyzing trailers and commercials!
