COURSE: Within
the sciences:
I'm torn between BISC 206: Histology I and BISC 203: Comparative
Anatomy and Physiology of Vertebrates. The professors are great
and the labs are actually pretty fun and interesting. After taking
these courses, I have gained a greater appreciation for the human
body, or just anatomy
in general. In Women's Studies, my Feminist Bioethics (WOST 212)
class has identified many issues in the healthcare and medical
field
from
a different perspective. I really enjoyed the topics
raised and the discussions that came with it.
STUDYING
SCIENCE AT WELLESLEY: The
professors have been great - helpful, challenging, insightful,
approachable, and dynamic. Also, being able to do hands-on stuff
like dissect animals, look at our own blood under a microscope,
make ferrocene, etc. is important.
RESEARCH/INTERNSHIPS: I'm
currently taking BISC 350, Research/Individual Study, with Andrea
Sequeira, who is researching population genetics of
invasive
species
on the
Galapagos
Islands.
Doing independent research really allows you to learn specific
lab techniques while working intimately with a professor and other
classmates with similar research interests.
FAVORITE
THING ABOUT WELLESLEY: At
Wellesley, there are undergraduate research opportunities to work
with professors that you may have taken a class from or would like
to
learn more
from. I love the Women's Studies and Biology Department!
DREAM
JOB: I'm
currently interviewing for healthcare consulting jobs but would
eventually like to go to medical school. At the moment, I would
love to be a pathologist, but that might change....
FUN
FACT: I
try to be meticulous and cautious in lab, but I love being reckless
on a snowboard. My latest goal is to master grinding rails on a
board.
