Margaret C. Ferguson GREENHOUSES
Behind the Science Center are the Margaret C. Ferguson Greenhouses, the Alexandra Botanic Gardens, and the Hunnewell Arboretum. This indoor/outdoor teaching facility covers 22 acres and contains a wide variety of trees, shrubs, and plants. The 15 greenhouses - with more than 1,000 varieties of tropical, desert, and subtropical plants - have been written about extensively in local press as a place to visit, especially in the winter months. Students can often be found taking a respite from the February chill with a good book in one of the rooms.
