The Convocation ceremony on the first day of classes—Monday, August 31—formally opens the academic year. Like Commencement, Convocation begins with a procession—and seniors get to wear their robes (no caps), which you can buy and pick up on August 31 between 8:30 am and 1:00 pm in the Campus Center, Room 415. The cost for a gown is $26, payable by cash or check (no credit cards). Plan to gather at the Davis Plaza at 3:45 for a brief reception followed by lining up to march to the Hay Amphitheater for the ceremony. Stepsinging outside Alumnae Hall will follow Convocation. In the case of rain, the reception will be at Tishman Commons, and students will line up to march at the pub.
