Convocation

Convocation

                                                              Class of 2021 – ChattySnaps

Wellesley will mark the start of the academic year with its first-ever virtual convocation, held at 2:45pm EST on Wednesday, September 2. I hope you will join your classmates, colleagues, and peers—both on campus and remote—to celebrate the beginning of our year and to welcome the community back to Wellesley.

Convocation will be broadcast live from the Hay Outdoor Theater on our WellesleyLIVE web page. Though we are not able to have an audience in person, we hope that everyone will tune in and join the virtual celebration on social media using #WellesleyConvocation. The ceremony will last for approximately 30 minutes so I really hope you can find the time to attend.

A message from your class officers:

Since the ceremony will be virtual because of the pandemic, we are trying extra hard to make the convocation an engaging one.

With that being said, we are asking for you to post a picture and/or short video of yourself in either our lovely class color or any robe you have access to on any form of social media using the following hashtags: #wellesleyconvocation #wellesley2021 #remotewellesley.  If you choose to use one hashtag please use #wellesleyconvocation. If your social media platform of choice is Instagram, there has been a special filter created for our convocation. In order to access it, you will have to have the updated version of Instagram.

We plan to create a fun surprise for the class with the photos and/or videos posted using the hashtags. Faculty and staff have already begun using the hashtags with special messages for our class during these trying and unprecedented times. If you choose not to use the hashtags, feel free to look through the posts to see and hear what your fellow classmates as well as faculty and staff have to say to encourage us this year.

We look forward to seeing your face at convocation as well as the pictures and videos you decide to post! We can’t wait to be able see all of your mask covered faces in the spring!
