Kindred Obas
Kindred is a junior majoring in English and minoring in Education while pursuing her certification in Elementary Education.

As a Mellon Mays Fellow, she is doing research on diversity in children’s literature with a focus on the portrayals of innocence of children of color. For both the Summer of 2016 and 2017, she has worked as a teaching assistant for English and the Sciences for the MIT/Wellesley Upward Bound Program. On Campus she is an Resident Assistant in her dorm, a student assistant and tour guide in the Wellesley Admission Office, President of Cru Christian Fellowship, a member of Wellesley College Dancers and a leader in Wellesley SMiLES. She also volunteers as a tutor for the Upward Bound program during the school year. She has a working knowledge of Spanish. Kindred’s goal upon graduation is to pursue her masters in an education related field and teach elementary school as well as be involved in education policy. Ultimately she hopes to become the United States of Secretary of Education.
