Dear Classmates:

I hope that this letter finds you well and enjoying the arrival of summer. This is my first formal communication to you as Class President, so I will take this opportunity to extend my sincere thanks for this chance to serve for the next four years.

My mission as Class President, in line with that of the Alumnae Association, is to coordinate events and communications that will reconnect you with fellow classmates, Wellesley alumnae and the College. Let's plan some fun and inspiring mini-reunions such as attending film festivals, sports events or book signings. Let's get involved in our communities by coordinating a Class of 94 team for a charity walk-a-thon. We welcome all levels of participation with the management of class activities. At a minimum, I encourage you to keep our Class Secretary, Monica Schaffer, apprised of major events and changes in your lives so that we can share your joys, successes and challenges together. We still can use your help with class management! We need a Web Mistress and a Vice President for the next 4 years. The perqs are few but the experience bountiful. Please consider volunteering. Also, please take time to read the Treasurer's Report. Dues can now be paid through PayPal - a great addition to our website which will surely boost our coffers for mini-reunions!

10th Class Reunion
Please email me your favorite photo from Reunion and I will post it up on our website!! For the 176 alumnae who attended last June, the event was a great success. Classmates attending represented 28% of our class. When including guests and children, the overall attendance for the weekend was a whopping 297! Thanks and congratulations go out to all those who put in the hard work for our 10th Reunion. It was a pleasure working with each of you and I know our classmates and guests appreciated your effort.

Alumnae Leadership Council

At last year's Alumnae Leadership Conference weekend our class was represented by Jana Beth Slibeck Francis, Nicole Dravillas Fravel, Mei Chen and me. It was a very inspiring and informative weekend. I am sure you have heard about the exciting changes going on at Wellesley's campus. We toured the new construction and landscaping sites and were awed by the rebirth of some of the less attractive parts of campus (e.g. large parking lots) into rolling meadows. The new Wang Campus Center (no, not at Schneider) is a fascinating architectural achievement. It rises above the landscape but is nestled within the trees, offering beautiful views out to Lake Waban. What a great place to take a nap! I encourage you to visit the campus if you are in the area to check out the new buildings, landscape and renovations at Clapp Library.

Class Treasurer’s Report

I hope that the summer is off to a great start for everyone! I am excited to serve as the class treasurer for the next 4 years!

As of March 2005, our class treasury had a balance of $2,329.16. $1,621.98 was net revenues from our 10 Year Reunion, and the balance of $707.18 was our class distribution for the fiscal year ended June 30, 2004 from our Class Life Membership Fund invested with the College portfolio. We expect to receive some additional funds from the sale of extra boas from Reunion through the Alumnae Reunion Store.

We hope to grow the class treasury over the next 4 years and ask all of you to consider supporting our class by sending in annual dues or becoming a lifetime member. If you have other ideas for how we can grow our treasury please let me know. The class treasury funds class activities, newsletters and travel expenses to Alumnae Leadership Council, as well as providing seed money for Reunion. Gifts to the College are separate from the funds collected by the class. The College does not directly support alumnae class activities, so we need your continued support.

Annual dues are $9.40 and lifetime membership is a one-time investment of $94. We currently have 129 lifetime members and our goal is to increase the number to 175 over the next five years. Lifetime memberships will be invested with the College’s endowment to create future income stream for the class treasury. All contributions to the class are tax deductible.
