Student Organizations

Architecture Club

The Architecture Club is an independent organization of Wellesley College art and architecture students. Our mission is to be a resource for potential and current students of design. We seek to provide advice and inspiration for those interested in architecture and related fields and to facilitate networking and the spread of ideas amongst students, alumnae and professionals. Annual events include visits to local architecture firms, a panel on architecture study abroad programs, an interactive information session on graduate school programs in design, and portfolio reviews. For more information, or to become involved in the organization, please refer to our Sakai website (https://sakai.wellesley.edu/portal/site/org0134), our Facebook group (Wellesley Architecture Network, http://www.facebook.com/#!/groups/214764475250097/) or email Presidents Anna Lake-Smith and Pratibha Chauhan at alakesmi@wellesley.edu and pchauhan@wellesley.edu respectively.

Davis Museum Student Advisory Council

Art History students lead the Davis Museum Student Advisory Council (DMSAC), which encourages campus-wide involvement in the visual arts.  DMSAC helps connect faculty and students from different disciplines by sponsoring regular gallery talks on topics ranging from Surrealism in French society to environmentalism in contemporary art.  It also organizes the extremely popular “Davis After Dark” evenings at the museum.

For information and to learn more about DMSAC, contact Sara Putterman. She is the new President for DMSAC - Her email is sputterm@wellesley.edu

Independent Art Society

Independent Art Society is a cohesive group of Wellesley students who are interested in the arts and the programs, courses, and other studio art resources provided by Wellesley College. Independent Art Society brings together students of various artistic disciplines and interests to create a community where work and ideas and inspiration can be shared. IAS provides weekly live model sessions, programs group trips to local museums, brings local Boston artists to campus, and schedules art workshops.

For more information about IAS, visit our Facebook page (Indepenent Art Society, http://www.facebook.com/IndependentArtSociety) or contact President Meron Tefera at mtefera@wellesley.edu

Phocus Photography Club

Phocus is a photography club run by Wellesley College students who are dedicated to learning, practicing, teaching and exhibiting photographic art. The club is open to both amateur and advanced student photographers and aims to create opportunities for the Wellesley community to engage with and appreciate photography on and off campus. Phocus organizes student photography events and exhibitions, workshops and tutorials, group outings and activities, and provides members with access to equipment and facilities for photography.
