WELLESLEY RACES TO THIRD STRAIGHT SEVEN SISTERS CHAMPIONSHIP
SOUTH HADLEY, MASS. – Wellesley captured its third consecutive
Seven Sisters Cross Country Championship as Tracy Bassett (Rancho
Palos Verdes, Calif.), Sarah Bard (Waterville, Maine) and Elizabeth
Eiseman (Scarsdale, N.Y.) each placed in the top ten for the Blue,
Saturday in South Hadley.
Bassett placed second overall in a time of 18:09.1 to earn Seven
Sisters All-Tournament honors for the third time in her career
to pace Wellesley. Bard finished the 5000-meter course in a time
of 18:39.7 while Eiseman placed 10th in a time of 18:56.6. Bard
also earned Seven Sisters All-Tournament honors for the third year
in a row, while Eiseman’s 10th place finish earned her all-tournament
honors for the second consecutive year.
Wellesley placed first overall as a team with 49 points, while
rival Smith College finished second with 68 points and Swarthmore
finished third with 70 points on the heels of Sarah Hobb’s
(Fort Collins, Colo.) first place finish in a time of 18:02.1.
