Wellesley, Mass. – Marret Arfsten (Moorestown, N.J./Moorestown) had two goals and an assist and Alissa Gordon (Sudbury, Mass./Lincoln-Sudbury) netted two goals of her own to lead Wellesley (6-2) to a 6-0 shutout win against Connecticut College (1-6), Tuesday in field hockey action at Wellesley.
Zana Previti (Ashburnham, Mass./Cushing Academy) put Wellesley on the board nine minutes into the first half converting an Arfsten assist to give the Blue a 1-0 lead. Arfsten then followed three minutes later with her seventh goal of the season on an Emma Whitman (Ann Arbor, Mich./Ann Arbor Pioneer) assist. Wellesley took a 3-0 lead heading into the second half of play after netted her fourth goal of the season when Besty Masiello (Solebury, Pa./Saratoga) found Gordon for the first of her two assists. Arfsten, Gordon, Laura Bender (Mattapoisset, Mass./Tabor Academy) each scored goals in the second half to round out the scoring for Wellesley which held a 22-8 shot advantage in the game. Wellesley's Caitlin Andrews (Edgecomb, Maine/Kents Hills) made six saves en route to her third shutout of the season while Connecticut College's Kate Reardon and Ashley Kenerson split time in goal allowing three goals apiece. Reardon made six saves for the Camels while Kenerson finished with 10. Wellesley returns to action, Saturday October 5 at 1 p.m. against NEWMAC opponent Mt. Holyoke.
