Martha Dietrick
Ed.M., Boston University
B.S., Boston University
Babson School of Executive Education
NIRSA Executive Institute, June 2001
As Associate Director for Facilities, Operations, and Recreation, Martha oversees the scheduling and operations of the entire sports center
complex. She serves as a member of the event management team, which coordinates
all aspects of the athletic contests, tournaments, post-season
play and special events. She also coordinates the department's many recreation programs.
Martha is a member of the National Intramural-Recreational Sports Association
(NIRSA) and the Association of Higher Education Facilities Officers
(APPA). She has also served two terms on the Massachusetts Governor's
Committee on Physical Fitness and Sports.
One of Martha's special projects in recreation is to create opportunities for student
leadership. She has developed detailed job descriptions for
all student workers and created positions for student
coordinators in the four major recreational activities: swimming,
weight room, aerobics, and front desk. These positions enable
coordinators to develop leadership, supervisory, and organizational
skills. The students oversee the day-to-day scheduling of
these areas and become very responsible and responsive to
the needs of students and members.
Martha enjoys spending time with her family, husband Steve, daughter Blake, and son Tucker. She also enjoys yoga, collecting cookbooks, and most outdoor activities.
