First year of coaching at Wellesley
Fall of 2007 marks Tony Mohammed's first season as the head soccer coach at Wellesley College. He joins the Blue after serving the previous season as the assistant for the women’s program at Carnegie Mellon University. During the 2004-2005 academic year Mohammed was the interim head coach at Vassar College after a one-year stint as the men's assistant and athletic facilities manager. While at the helm of the women's program at Vassar, he led the Brewers to a 10-8-1 record, the program's first N.Y. State Championship title, and an ECAC Championship appearance.
Mohammed began his collegiate coaching career in 1999 as the women's soccer assistant at St. Lawrence University while completing his master's degree. During his two-year tenure, the Saints compiled a record of 28-12-4 and were ranked as high as sixth in the NSCAA National Poll.
In 2002 Mohammed was appointed as a regional manager and camp director for Lake Placid Soccer Centre. He remains active in youth coaching and has led Coerver Coaching technical programs for youth clubs in Eastern New York, Vermont, and Massachusetts.
The Toronto, Ontario, native received his undergraduate degree from Kenyon College in 1997. As a four-year starter, Mohammed made two NCAA DIII National Championship Final Four appearances (third in 1993, second in 1996) and was a part of the most successful programs in school history. Prior to attending college, Mohammed was selected to participate in the Provincial and National Player Development Programs and competed in three National Championships including the 1993 Canada Games.
Mohammed has been a member of the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) since 1999 and holds an NSCAA National, and Advanced National Diploma.
