Wellesley Falls to Virginia Wesleyan 2-0

Oneonta, N.Y. – Morgan Gunn and Jakki Trappler scored a goal a piece to lead Virginia Wesleyan (4-1) to a 2-0 win against Wellesley College (1-3), Sunday in the consolation game of the Red Dragon Cup at Oneonta State.

Gunn gave the Marlins a 1-0 lead in the 17th minute when she found the back of the net off a Nicole Hite assist. Virginia Wesleyan raised its lead to 2-0 in the 76th minute when Jakki Trappler scored an insurance goal off of a Merrie Tobler pass.

Wellesley’s Elizabeth Senecal made six saves, while the Marlin’s Lauara Wiederwax stopped duplicated Senecal’s efforts with six saves in the shutout win.
