Message from Coach Kaliouby

Thank you to our AD Bridget and our SID Lauren for giving me the chance to communicate with Wellesley alumnae. Thank you also to the Friends of Wellesley College Athletics who has played a great role in supporting all of our varsity teams in the past, the present and the future.
Fencing this year with seven first-years, we are doing well in the Northeast Conference so far and did very well in our Invitational. Emily Johnson led the 14 colleges in epee with a 10-2 record.  Wendy Chin, Hannah Braaten and Tess DeLean are in the top six in foil.  Our sabre team, although we have no clear star, is doing well and they are all improving on this difficult weapon.
The Wellesley Invitational was a big success with three varsity teams (Cornell, Tufts, Hunter) and one club team (UMass) coming to campus. Our team placed second to only Cornell.
Fencing season is still going strong, we are hosting the second Northeast Conference meet here at the Keohane SPorts Center on February 9th and the NE Championship will take place on February 17th at Dartmouth.
We are hoping to have more than five fencers qualify for the NCAA Regional Championship with a goal of reaching the NCAA Nationals.
I will be more than happy to answer any of your question!
