2008-09 Recap: The Wellesley College crew team finished the fall racing season with a third place finish at the Seven Sisters Championships in Philadelphia, PA. The team competed in three head races this fall, including the Head of the Charles in Boston, MA. The first varsity boat finished thirteenth out of thirty-four competitors in the collegiate eight event ahead of rivals Smith, Simmons, Mount Holyoke, Wesleyan, Tufts, Vassar. In the spring, the team finished as the runner-up at the NEWMAC Championships. At the conference event, the Blue third varsity boat recorded a first place finish, while the first and second varsity boats took second place in their races. Strong all season long, the third varsity boat also earned Wellesley a silver medal at the New England Championships. Rower Cori Snedecor and coxswain Gabby Wakeman were named to the NEWMAC All-Conference team while rower Conisha Cooper earned a spot on the Novice All-NEWMAC Team. Closing out a successful season, senior Jacqueline Lewandowski was one of only eight Division III rowers to earn both All-American and National Scholar-Athlete honors. Junior Kate Spelman also earned National Scholar-Athlete honors.
