Wellesley Rowers Earn CRCA Postseason Honors

WELLESLEY, Mass. - The Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA) this week announced its postseason All-American teams and academic honors, and four Wellesley rowers were recognized for their achievements.

Julia Shaw (Gardiner, Maine) was named a second-team All-American for her performance in the first varsity boat this season.  She is the second Wellesley representative to the All-American team during head coach Tessa Spillane's tenure.  All-American candidates are nominated by their institution, and are selected based on their season record, strength of schedule, 2k score, and coach's recommendation.

Receiving National Scholar-Athlete honors are Jacqueline Lewandowski (Chicago, Ill.), Adrienne Topic (Danville, Calif.), and Kate Spelman (Scituate, Mass.) It is the second selection for Lewandowski and Topic, and the first for Spelman.  National Scholar-Athletes are recognized in their second through fourth years of eligibility for maintaining a 3.5 GPA or higher during their career.

Wellesley Crew this month closed out a successful season in which they won the NEWMAC Florence Smith Cup and Sportsmanship Award, placed fifth at the New England Championships, and rose as high as 11th in the national Division III rankings.
