Wellesley Fencers Compete at NCAA Regionals

WELLESLEY, MA – Wellesley College advanced seven fencers to the NCAA Regional Tournament held at Vassar College on Sunday. 

In the foil pool, Hannah Braaten (Concord, MA), the New England Foil Champion, finished with a ranking of 25 after picking up two wins in the first round.  Teammate Wendy Chin (New York, NY) ended the day with a 26th ranking, also getting two wins in pool play.  Rounding out a spectacular year for the Wellesley foil team, Tess DeLean (St. Louis, MO) finished with a ranking of 37.

In epee competition, the Blue were led by Emily Johnson (Pittstown, NJ) who finished the day ranked 28th after posting two wins. Annmarie Kocab (Farmington Hills, MI) and Anne Benjamin (Fairfield, CT) finished with back-to-back 35 and 36 rankings, each getting a win in the pool play round.

Wrapping up her career as a Wellesley fencer, senior team captain Katie Kinnaird (Bethesda, MD) grabbed a win in pool play and finished 38th overall.

Wellesley fencing ended the season with a 10-7 overall record.
