Wellesley College Field Hockey Blanks Kenyon College

WELLESLEY, MA - Sophomore forward Callie Lekas (Brewster, MA) scored twice as the Wellesley College field hockey team downed Kenyon College in a Saturday afternoon, non-conference match-up.
Wellesley and Kenyon played scoreless hockey for the first 35 minutes with the Blue holding a 9-5 advantage in shots.
In the second half, the score remained tied at 0-0 until Lekas picked up her first goal of the game at 39:15.
With a 1-0 lead, Wellesley controlled the field for most of the period, launching a heavy offensive attack on Keynon goalkeeper Karen Thompson who picked up ten saves in the second half.
Lekas added her second score of the game with :37 seconds left to play. The unassisted goal gave Wellesley a 2-0 lead that would remain as time expired.
The loss evens Kenyon's record at 6-6. The Ladies are back in action tomorrow when they take on Babson College on the road at 11:00am.
The win improves Wellesley's season record to 7-3. Up next for the Blue, Smith College will be in town for a 1:00pm game tomorrow afternoon.
