Wellesley Winter Student-Athletes Named NEWMAC All-Academic

Babson Park, Mass. - The New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference announced its 2008-09 Winter Sport Academic All-Conference Teams this week. Five Wellesley student-athletes earned nominations this season.

Honorees must have met the following criteria: earned a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5/4.0 scale or 4.35/5.0 scale after the 2008 fall semester; achieved second-year academic status at her institution; and been a member of the varsity team for the entire season.

Swimming & Diving places four on the all-academic roster. Juniors Emilie Mitten (Norwalk, CT; Biological Sciences) and Alex Stark (Moorestown, NJ; IR-Political Science) and senior Savanna Johnson (Bloomington, IN; French/IR-Economics) each receive their second nomination, while junior Abigail Friedman (Bristow, VA; American Studies/Peace & Justice Studies) earns her first.

Representing the basketball team, senior Courtney Richter (Sinking Spring, PA; Art History/Studio Art) receives the award for the third time.
