Wellesley's Martore Named NEWMAC Women's Soccer Player of the Week


WELLESLEY, MA – Wellesley College sophomore goalkeeper Katie Martore (Great Falls, VA) was named the New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) women’s soccer Player of the Week for the period ending September 16, 2007.

In two games for the Blue last week, Martore notched two shutout victories. Against Bates College, the goalkeeper made nine saves in an impressive 1-0 win. During Wellesley's second game of the week, she led the Blue to a 1-0 victory over Framingham State stopping three shots on goal.

On the season, Martore has racked up four shut-outs and has only allowed opponents one goal for a goals-against average of 0.19.

Wellesley is 3-1-1 on the season and will return to the field on Tuesday when the Blue travel to Brandeis for a 7:00 game.
