Wellesley's Megan Turchi Named NEWMAC Player of the Week

BABSON PARK, Mass. -- Wellesley College first-year midfielder Megan Turchi (Rancho Santa Margarita, CA) was named Megan Turchithe New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Women's Soccer Player of the Week for the period ending October 18.

Turchi scored both of the game-winning goals in a 2-0 week for Wellesley. In a 3-0 win over WPI, the rookie opened the scoring with a bullet past the WPI keeper just six minutes into the game. On Saturday, Turchi's game-winner came with three minutes remaining in the first half, as the Blue posted a 2-0 victory over defending NEWMAC Champion Springfield.

Wellesley Soccer is 4-1-1 in the NEWMAC this season with a 6-5-2 overall record.  The Blue sit in a three way tie for second place and will play a key conference match-up on Tuesday at Babson at 3:00pm.
