Wellesley Tennis Heads to 2008 NCAA Tournament
Mezin Qualifies for Singles Tournament; Walther/Mezin for Doubles

NCAA Team Tournament Bracket (PDF)

Wellesley, Mass. – The Wellesley tennis team will compete in the upcoming NCAA Division III Tournament.  The Blue earned an automatic bid into the tournament by winning the NEWMAC Championship in the fall.  In addition, seniors Jenna Mezin (Haiku, HI) and Hali Walther (Navarre, Fla.) have been selected to compete in the NCAA Doubles Championship while Mezin was also invited to compete in the singles tournament.

In the team tournament, Wellesley, the 8th ranked team in the nation, earned a bye in the first round of the event.  The Blue will face winner of Friday’s Tufts and Roger Williams match on Saturday at Williams College.

In the singles tournament, Mezin joins Leslie Hansen of MIT as the only NEWMAC players to be selected.  For doubles, Mezin and Walther are the lone NEWMAC representatives.

The NCAA individual championships will be hosted by Gustavus Adolphus College May 16-18 at the Swanson Tennis Center in Saint Peter, Minnesota.  Mezin and Walther join a field that include the best 32 single players and 16 double teams in the nation.
