Wellesley Volleyball Players Earn All-Conference Honors;
Webb Named Coach of the Year
BABSON PARK, MA -- The New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) announced its 2007 Women's Volleyball Post-season awards on Tuesday. Wellesley senior Tracy Waldman (Seattle, WA) was named to the first team while senior Murielle Dawdy (Temescal Valley, CA) and Emily Peters (Larkspur, CA) earned second team honors. In addition, head coach Dorothy Webb was honored by her peers as NEWMAC Coach of the Year.
Waldman, a senior middle blocker, earns first-team All-Conference honors for the second straight year. This season Waldman racked up 228 kills for an average of 2.59 per game. She also amassed a stellar .331 hitting percentage and compiled 92 blocks on the year.
Dawdy, a senior outside hitter, returns to the All-Conference team after previously earning second team All-NEWMAC in 2004 and first team honors in 2005. In 2007, she leads Wellesley with 293 kills and has 304 digs on the year. Dawdy has also compiled 41 blocks and was named Seven Sisters Tournament MVP.
Peters, a junior libero, makes her first appearance on the All-Conference team. The Wellesley leader in digs with 544 on the season, she also has 56 serving aces. During the regular season, Peters was honored by the NEWMAC as Player of the Week for her performance against Smith and Coast Guard.
Webb earns Coach of the Year Honors for the fifth time in her career after leading the Blue to a NEWMAC Championship. In her 16th year of coaching at Wellesley, she previously earned coaching honors in 1997, 1998, 1999, 2000. Webb has also been named AVCA Coach of the Year four times as well as NEWVA Coach of Year three times.
