Peters Named NEWMAC Player of the Week
WELLESLEY, MA – Wellesley College junior volleyball player Emily Peters (Temescal Valley, CA) was named the New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Women’s Volleyball Player of the Week for the period ending October 28, 2007.
Peters, a libero, led Wellesley to victory in two key conference matches to secure the #2 seed in the NEWMAC Championship tournament. In a four-game win over Smith and a three-game sweep of the US Coast Guard Academy, she amassed 46 digs, for an average of 6.57 digs per game. Peters also tallied two aces while passing at a remarkable .978 clip, recording only one reception error in 47 attempts.
Wellesley, 24-6 overall, will take the court again on Tuesday night, when they host #7-seed Babson College at 7:00 p.m. in the first-round of the NEWMAC tourament.
