Cummings Named NEWMAC Volleyball Player of the Week

WELLESLEY, Mass. – Wellesley College junior volleyball player Alice Cummings (Tallahassee, Fla.) was named the CummingsNew England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Volleyball Player of the Week for the period ending September 7, 2008.

Cummings had a monster week for Wellesley as the Blue went 3-0 with wins over Gordon, Williams and Wesleyan. Against Gordon, she tallied 14 kills, 13 digs and one block in Wellesley's season-opener.  In two matches at Wesleyan on September 6, Cummings started the day with a 12 kill, 16 dig performance, leading the Blue to a straight-set win over Williams, the 2007 NESCAC Champion and an NCAA Qualifier. Cummings finished the day by racking up 11 kills and 14 digs in a 3-1 win over Wesleyan.
