Cummings Named NEWMAC Volleyball Player of the Week

WELLESLEY, Mass. – Wellesley College junior volleyball player Alice Cummings (Tallahassee, Fla.) was named the Alice Kate CummingsNew England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Volleyball Player of the Week for the period ending November 2, 2008.  This is her second weekly honor this season.

Cummings led the Blue to a 2-0 record in NEWMAC play last week, hitting .324 in seven sets. In a four-set win over MIT, the outside hitter tallied 20 kills and 20 digs, while hitting .333 for the match. To close out the regular season, she notched nine kills (.308) and seven digs in a sweep of Smith.
 
With a regular-season conference record of 8-1 (24-6 overall), Wellesley earned the #2 seed in the 2008 NEWMAC Women's Volleyball Championship. The Blue will host #7 Wheaton in a quarterfinal match on Tuesday, November 4, at 7:00 p.m.
