PERA Assistant Professor of the Practice
Head field hockey coach, instructor of strength training, and assistant to the intramural program.
As the head field hockey coach, I emphasize individual player development as well as disciplined team play. As a teacher, I focus on providing the student-athletes with the tools necessary to succeed on and off the field. While some of these tools may be a specific field hockey skill, such as a block tackle, sweep, or dodge, I believe the more important tools are those that translate off the field - commitment, teamwork, and confidence. I feel fortunate to work with the dedicated student-athletes at Wellesley College and I take pride in supporting them as they follow their passions.
My role as a Strength Training instructor focuses on teaching Wellesley students the importance of daily physical activity, while highlighting the specific benefits of strength training. We look at peer-reviewed journal articles that show benefits such as decreased risk of heart disease, increased memory, and increased bone density, as well as many others.
