Tenure-Track Open Rank Positions and Hess Faculty Fellow

Wellesley College invites applications for two tenure-track open rank positions as well as a two year Norma Wilentz Hess Faculty Fellow in the Computer Science Department, starting in the fall of 2017. The Computer Science Department is strongly committed to outstanding teaching and scholarship, and to providing students with the best possible research experiences. We are especially interested in candidates whose teaching, scholarship, or service has prepared them to contribute to our commitment to diversity, inclusion, and equity within an academic setting. Preference will be given to candidates with a PhD in Computer Science or a related discipline, ABD considered. Strong candidates in any area of specialty will be considered. We especially encourage applicants in the fields of software design, systems, HCI, theory and algorithms, AI, and machine learning. The tenure-track open rank positions have a teaching load of two courses per semester, with the opportunity to develop new courses in the candidate’s area of specialty and support for a vigorous program of research. It is anticipated that the open rank positions will be at the rank of Assistant Professor, but exceptional cases at more senior ranks will be considered. The two year Hess Fellow position, funded at the Assistant Professor level, has a teaching load of one course per semester, with ample opportunity for innovative course development and support for research, travel, equipment, conference attendance, and other scholarly activities.
