Alumnae Participation in On-Campus Programs

The Shadow Program

Through the Shadow Program, Wellesley students and alumnae have an opportunity to spend a day with an alumna exploring her professional field. The CWS provides administrative assistance for the Wintersession Shadow program, however, you can also create your own shadow at other times throughout the year. In order to take part in the Wintersession Shadow Program attendance is required at one of the autumn information meetings. Check the CWS Workshops and Programs Calendar for dates. To apply for the Shadow Program click here. For more information on creating your own shadow click here or call Denise (Hsiao-lu) Lee, 781.283. 3590.

Management Basics
During alternate Wintersessions, this intensive, three week, non-credit career development program is offered to students and alumnae. Participants are introduced to functional and analytical areas of organizations, to management skills and vocabulary, and to a spectrum of career planning resources. Alumnae leaders in business, not-for-profit organizations, Wellesley faculty, and area business school faculty teach segments of Management Basics and share insights from their careers with the participants. The next Management Basics will take place in January 2007.

Alumnae Mock Interviews
Alumnae provide on campus mock interviews for Wellesley students. These sessions are scheduled throughout the academic year. Advance sign-up is required. For more information, e-mail Ellie Gammons or call 781.283 2355.

Exploring Career Options in Business
Each year members of the Business Leadership Council provide an evening panel followed by a full day, dynamic seminar on careers in business where Wellesley students can meet alumnae leaders in their fields. For additional information about this program, e-mail Folly Patterson or call 781.283.2358. The next Business Leadership Council weekend will take place early February 2006.

ACCESS Program
The Wellesley College Alumnae Association and the Wellesley College Student Government sponsor the Wellesley ACCESS program. Conceived in 1981 by the Alumnae Association, the aim of the program is two-fold: to expose current Wellesley students to the multi-faceted lives of Wellesley graduates, and to honor alumnae who possess a diversity of experience.
Each year, selected alumnae living in the Boston area serve as alumnae associates and each residence hall elects an ACCESS student representative. Together, they host panel discussions and networking events for the Wellesley students. Through formal and informal gatherings, alumnae serve as career resources for students. Other Wellesley sources of information and contacts include Wellesley faculty and your classmates.

In addition to the programs listed above, alumnae participate in many other programs and panels throughout the year.
