Alumnae/Student Katrina Relief Service Trip with Habitat for Humanity, New Orleans, LA January 14-20, 2007A combined effort between the CWS and the Alumnae Association to bring alumnae and students together to continue the work Wellesley has been doing in Slidell, LA to help rebuild after Hurricane Katrina. We have been able to develop strong connections within the community, sending previous groups down last Wintersession, during spring break, and over the summer in structured internship programs with Habitat and City Year. We are sending a group of 20, 10 students and 10 alumnae, to work directly with Habitat for Humanity rebuilding houses. Our hope is to be able to continue to offer service trips as part of the Wellesley expeditions program, and create more opportunities for students and alumnae to work together.
