Employer Guidelines
In the spirit of the collaboration among companies, students, professors and CWS staff, we have set the following policies to ensure that everyone involved in the on-campus recruiting program is treated fairly and professionally. Therefore, we offer the following guidelines to companies and expect that they will abide by them.
- Missing Classes
We expect every company will take into consideration a student’s class schedule. Students should NOT be expected to miss classes for interviews. - Wellesley College's Guide to Offers
We suggest that companies participating in our on-campus recruiting program consider the following timeline for offers.- Seniors
- Full-time employment offers to seniors interviewed in fall - end of the first week in December
- Full time employment offers to seniors interviewed in spring - end of the third week in April
- Juniors
- Full-time employment offers made after summer internship - end of the first week in December
- Internship offers made in fall/spring - one month after offer.
- Sophomores
- Wintersession offers made to students interviewed in the fall - one month after offer.
- Internship offers made in the fall or spring - one month after offer.
- Exploding Offers- Companies will not pressure students to accept exploding offers. We define exploding offers as those that require a student to accept a job within a short period of time (usually a day) or face having the offer rescinded.
- Third Party Recruiting
Employment agencies and search firms may list openings online and identify themselves as third party recruiters in the employer registration process. They may not recruit on campus. Exceptions will be made only for teaching agencies. - Testing
The CWS will provide rooms for companies to administer pre-employment tests. All tests must be administered by a company representative. Employers must also advise students in a timely fashion of the type and purpose of tests that students will be required to take. They must also inform students to whom test results will be disclosed. In order to make students aware of all testing requirements in the beginning of the recruiting process, we encourage companies to add all testing information to the job descriptions. - Individuals With Disabilities
Wellesley College is committed to ensuring that all students, faculty, and employers are offered every opportunity to participate in the activities offered by this office. If you require accommodations to utilize our services please contact our office at 781-283-2489.
