Undergraduate Fellowships Requiring Campus Committee Review
Beinecke Scholarship
This program seeks to encourage and enable highly motivated students to pursue graduate study in the arts, humanities and social sciences. The competition is open to juniors who are U.S. citizens or nationals who have demonstrated superior intellectual ability and scholastic achievement, and who have a documented history of receiving need-based financial aid during their undergraduate years. Provides $34,000 towards expenses for graduate study in MA or PhD programs.
Applicants for the Beinecke Scholarship must go through the Wellesley College screening process. This entails submission of:
- Completed Beinecke Cover Sheet
- Application Form
- Financial Aid Data Sheet
- Personal Statement (1,000 word maximum) describing background, interests, plans for graduate study and career aspirations. Discuss some experiences and ideas that have shaped your interests, plans and aspirations (see application).
- Resume
- Three letters of reference
- Copy of Wellesley College transcript or grade report (not the Web version)

A campus committee will review applications and nominate one student whose final application will be sent to the Beinecke selection committee by their February 27, 2009 deadline.
