How the CWS Can Help
Wellesley College and the Center for Work and Service (CWS) assist students and alumnae in the process of applying for national scholarships and fellowships to strengthen and broaden their intellectual horizons. The Center for Work and Service gathers current information on procedures and deadlines, encourages qualified students to apply, and offers advice on application and essay preparation. Information is on file, and directories with extensive listings of sources of financial aid are in the CWS library.
Some of the most prestigious and substantial fellowships and scholarships require review by campus committees, and it is important to clearly understand the application procedures for each. Fellowship informational meetings are held in April and in the beginning of September, as the Rhodes, Marshall, and Mitchell Scholarships, Watson Fellowship, and Fulbright Grant deadlines are all quite early in the fall. Many other competitive awards have late September through early November deadlines. Sample applications and information sheets are on reserve at the Center for Work and Service and Clapp libraries.
