Guidelines for Requesting a Language Reference for the CWS Identified Internship Programs
Applicants to the American Cities Internship Program and Aga Khan Education Services in Uganda applicants are not required to complete a language reference form. All other applicants are required to complete a language reference form,even if the language is not required for a specific placement.
Students need to submit a language reference form for each internship language, if applying to internships in different countries. both languages. If you do not have any facility with the language, please include a note with your application stating: "I hereby affirm that I have never studied the ________ language and have no oral, written, or reading comprehension of the language." This will serve as your Language Waiver Form.
For native speakers and students who have placed out of language courses at Wellesley, we recommend you visit the department early and speak to someone in the department about a language reference as soon as possible.
If the person agrees to write a letter for you, please fill in the blanks and send the text below in the body of an email, not as an attachment. You should also indicate if you waive your right to read your letter of reference. While it is within your legal right not to sign a waiver, your recommender has the right to refuse to write a letter that is not confidential.
