Guidelines for Writing the Reflective Essay

Once you have completed your internship/community service placement, you are required to submit a critically reflective essay describing your experience. This essay is due two weeks after the completion of your project. The essay should include the following information:

• rewarding and challenging aspects of your experience
• significant learning that took place during your experience
• the expectations you had entering the experience and whether or not those expectations were fulfilled or unfulfilled
• how your experience has influenced your academic work at Wellesley
• how your experience has influenced your career plans
• other information you would like to share with the donor

These essays are sent to the donors of the stipends. A thank you letter to the donor of your stipend must be handed in with your essay.
