I anticipate with mounting excitement the worldwide celebration of the 50th Anniversary of the Wellesley College Friends of Art in 2015! I urge you to connect with Friends of Art at this very special time and join our community of devoted Davis supporters around the world.
Friends of Art provides crucial annual support for the extraordinary exhibitions and programs that distinguish the Davis, for the Davis Museum Summer Internship Program (now celebrating its 10th year!), and for many of the splendid acquisitions that expand and enhance our collections.
I am exceptionally proud of all that Friends of Art support makes possible at the Davis. Our outstanding exhibitions and programs, for example! In their focus on the collections, on critical discernment, and on inventive modes of display, our exhibitions demonstrate the creative excellence that is a hallmark of the Wellesley experience. The Davis is a portal to the Wellesley experience, and we invite viewers of all kinds—students, faculty, alumnae, and the general public—to see something new, to see something familiar in new ways, to experience art through surprising encounter, to re-consider the action of art in the world.
Over the coming months, we will focus on “Reflection and Renewal” and make the most of every opportunity to celebrate the history of this organization––one of powerful devotion, determination, and remarkable dedication. In this moment, our community of supporters faces an important juncture. For, as we work to honor the Friends of Art foundations, we must also ensure a vital future. We must look ahead — we must aim for the next 50 years!
Join me! Please invest in Friends of Art, by making a gift today. Reconnect with the global community of Friends of Art supporters. Help us to build the next 50 years for the Davis.
