Join Friends of Art at the Davis and support the arts at Wellesley.

Membership in Friends of Art connects you with a global network of alumnae and friends who invest in the arts, share enthusiasm for lifelong learning, and commit to the Davis Museum as a hub of excellence at Wellesley College.

Established in 1965, and now celebrating 50 extraordinary years of giving, Friends of Art raises over $325,000 annually to provide crucial support for the Davis. Friends of Art funds have a direct impact on daily operations at the Davis, and underwrite acquisitions, exhibitions, programs, internships, and student opportunities that are unique to Wellesley.

Regional Events

Regional Friends of Art events offer access to great exhibitions and networking opportunities with like-minded Wellesley alumnae, parents, and friends around the world.

Friends of Art Regional chapters are active in Boston, Chicago, Houston, New York, San Francisco, and Washington D.C. and membership includes invitations to events, exclusive admission to personal collections, and private showings at galleries and museums around the country, as well as special previews at the Davis.  Often Davis curators, Wellesley faculty and alumnae in the arts enhance private Friends of Art admissions, tours, and lectures.

In the past year, Friends of Art held special events at the Asian Art Museum in San Francisco, Fathom Art Gallery in Washington D.C.; Loyola University Museum of Art in Chicago; the Museum of Modern Art and the New York Botanical Gardens, in New York; the Houston Center for Contemporary Craft; and the new Harvard Art Museums, to name just a few.

Patrons Society

Founded in 1993, the Patrons Society contributes 80% of Friends of Art giving to the Davis, and includes members who make an annual gift of $2,500 or more. In addition to being included in all Regional events, Friends of Art members of the Patrons Society are invited to attend elite Patrons events across the country and to join the annual Patrons Trip.

Accompanied by the Davis Museum Director, our exclusive Patrons Trips bring together Wellesley alumnae and friends with shared interests in arts and culture, to visit a different city each year.  These art adventures feature specially designed itineraries guaranteed to grant Friends of Art Patrons exclusive entre to private collections, art experts, and behind-the-scenes access to art institutions.

As part of the ongoing Friends of Art 50th Anniversary celebration, our 2016 Patrons Trip to the Burgundian Netherlands builds on the spectacular success of our first two international Patrons Trips (2014 London and 2015 Dubai). Our FOA arts adventure kicks off in Brussels and takes us behind the scenes to private collections and estates, inside the worlds of Netherland’s museums and makers—ranging from the Medieval to the contemporary, encompassing the fine arts, antiques, architecture, fashion, and design for which the region is famous. Day trips to regional towns promise sights and access far from the typical tourist path, and include the exclusive VIP Preview of TEFAF (The European Fine Art Fair).
