Join the Friends of Art at the Davis and take an active part in the arts at Wellesley!

By joining of Friends of Art you participate in a global network of alumnae and friends who all share an interest in the arts, an enthusiasm for lifelong learning, and a commitment to the Davis Museum at Wellesley College.

Established in 1965 by a loyal group of alumnae, Friends of Art currently raises over $250,000 annually,  providing crucial support of the Davis. Friends of Art funds support current Museum needs, including acquisitions, exhibitions, programs, internships, and student opportunities at the Davis that are unique to Wellesley.

Regional Events

Friends of Art events give you access to great exhibitions and networking opportunities with like-minded Wellesley alumnae, parents and friends–nearly 600 strong–around the world.

Currently, there are active Friends of Art chapters in Boston, Chicago, Houston, New York, San Francisco, and Washington D.C.  Friends of Art gain exclusive admission to personal collections and private showings at galleries and museums around the country, as well as special preview events at the Davis.  Often a Wellesley faculty or alumna within the arts community give Friends of Art private admissions, tours or lectures.

This past year, Friends of Art held special events at the Huntington Library, Pasadena;  Newport Art Museum, Newport, RI; the Hirschorn Museum, Washington, DC; the deYoung Museum, San Francisco; Rice Gallery, Houston; the  Dahn Vo Gallery, Chicago; and the Brooklyn Museum, New York–– just to name a few!

Patrons Society

Founded in 1993, the Friends of Art Patrons Society consists of supporters who make an annual gift of $2,500 and more. In addition to the regional events, Friends of Art supporters at the Patrons Society level are invited to attend elite Patrons events across the country and to join the annual Patrons Trip.

Accompanied by the Davis Museum Director, these exclusive Patrons Trips bring together Wellesley alumnae and friends with shared interest in the arts, to visit a different city each year.  The trips are personally designed to grant Friends of Art Patrons intimate access to private collections and art experts and offer behind-the-scenes access to art institutions.

As part of the Friends of Art 50th Anniversary celebration, the next Patrons Trip will be an extra-special, week-long, arts-centered trip to an international location and will include exclusive tours of private collections designed distinctively for Wellesley College Friends of Art!
