Relocation of Jules Olitski sculpture, Shechinah Temptations 1976

Wednesday, November 20, 2013

As part of its preservation project, this month we are relocating Shechinah Temptations 1976, by Jules Olitski to a new location closer to Jewett in the Academic Quad. Part of the sculpture had sunken under the soil at its current location. At the new location a firm base and more sunlight will help keep the sculpture drier so it can age more slowly. This week, we have excavated the part of the sculpture which has sunken, and lifted the sculpture to move it to the new location. Next week, we will finish the final placement on new mounts.
