Careers and Graduate Study in Education

Students who have completed the minor in educational studies have trained to be guidance counselors and human resource specialists in business and industry, and work in admission and student service offices.

Following graduation, many students have pursued masters or doctoral work in education, psychology, cognitive science, social work. Others choose to enroll in PhD programs in the subject that they taught, such as English, biology, or chemistry. Former students have matriculated at the following institutions, among others:

Boston College School of Education
Brown University
Harvard Graduate School of Education
Stanford University School of Education
Teachers College at Columbia University
University of California at Berkeley
University of Maine
University of North Carolina

It is important to realize that graduate school for teacher training and licensure can be very expensive (though scholarship money and loan forgiveness is sometimes available). The education department is happy to counsel you on ways to do teacher licensure through Wellesley to avoid this expense, and to consider other uses of graduate school.
