Order your purple Class of 2022 T-shirt and photo
Taking a photo of the first-year class is a long-standing Wellesley tradition, and it's great to wear your Class T-shirt, or anything purple, to show your class spirit. Note: Above photo is of the previous purple Class of 2018 during their orientation.
Students in the incoming Class of 2022 may order a specially designed Class T-shirt or a print of the Class of 2022 photo by visiting the Orientation Depot. You may also reach the Orientation Depot through the Entering Student Checklist on MyWellesley. Please place your Class of 2022 T-shirt and Class Photo orders by July 13. We may have a few extra class T-shirts available for sale in the Campus Center on Opening Day.
About class colors:
Our Orientation materials use the class color, purple, as you will see. You may find it interesting to know that the tradition of class colors at Wellesley began with the Class of 1879, whose members chose dark blue as their color. Over the years, colors initially were chosen by the class in time for Tree Day near the end of their first year, and over time there began a rotation of colors: yellow, red, blue, and purple. In May 1949 the Senate voted to have the Class of 1953 use green, rather than blue, as its color, since the College’s color was blue. Since that time, the rotation has been: red, green, purple and yellow.
